Nicholas S. Wise

Nick is Senior Counsel with Kuchler Polk Weiner, LLC. He practices in the areas of environmental, maritime, and energy litigation. His focus is on representation of small operators and major oil and gas companies in oilfield legacy matters. His practice also involves a wide variety of oil and gas matters including mineral lease and servitude disputes and contractual disputes arising under joint operating agreements and other contractual relationships.

Nick received his Bachelor of Science in Information Systems and Decision Sciences from Louisiana State University in 2006 and worked as a systems analyst for the Louisiana Division of Administration for two years before attending law school.   He graduated cum laude from Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University in 2011.  During law school, Nick was a quarterfinalist in the Ruby R. Vale Interschool Corporate Moot Court Competition and served as a judicial extern for the Honorable John L. Weimer, Associate Justice of the Louisiana Supreme Court.

After completing law school, Nick had the honor of serving as a law clerk to the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana under the Honorable Tom Stagg.  Nick is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in Louisiana, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.  He is also a member of the Louisiana Association for Defense Counsel’s Young Lawyers Committee.

Away from the office, Nick enjoys tennis, golf, traveling, and trying new restaurants  in the New Orleans area.



Nick presented at the Fall 2016 Seminars for the Louisiana Association of Professional Landmen and the American Association of Professional Landmen.  The topic was “Production in Paying Quantities: Maintaining Mineral Leases Beyond Their Primary Terms with Production of Oil or Gas”.
