Michele HaleDeShazo

Michele is a Partner in the firm’s New Orleans office.

Michelle DeShazo

Michele is one of the firm’s four equity partners, having been with the founding group as an associate at the time of the firm’s inception in 2009.  She later became senior counsel, followed by her promotion to non-equity partner, and more recently, to equity partner.

She has longstanding experience with a number of the firm’s Fortune 500 clients, at every step of litigation, including pre-litigation, through trial, and in appellate briefing/argument.  Her litigation-based practice has included environmental litigation, energy litigation, commercial litigation, general civil litigation, Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM) litigation, product and premise liability claims, and hearing loss claims.

Michele’s ability to see the big picture and effective partnering with clients allows her to oversee complicated multi-party litigation to achieve positive outcomes, whether it is through early case resolution or at trial.  She also has demonstrated dexterity in handling smaller matters involving fewer parties.  Because she has served in both primary and local counsel roles, she is well rounded and capable of wearing many hats.  In other words, she is just as comfortable in producing persuasive legal writing as she is in arguing in court.  Having been involved in managing almost every type of alternative fee arrangement over the past 15+ years, in cases big and small, Michele can ensure that a client not only obtains an excellent result, but that it does so while considering the bottom line.

As noted in the Involvement section at the right, Michele has been a leader in national and Louisiana-based legal organizations since she began practicing law. She has also routinely published articles and presented on numerous topics, including environmental law, Louisiana prescription law, Medicare reporting, settlement issues, and diversity.
