Dawn R. Tezino

Dawn R. Tezino is a Partner at Kuchler Polk Weiner, LLC. Dawn graduated magna cum laude from University of Houston in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and graduated cum laude from Loyola University School of Law in 2001, where she was in the top 10% of her law school class and received the designation of William L. Crowe, Sr., Scholar. She is licensed to practice law in Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas and is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of Texas and the Eastern and Western Districts of Louisiana.

Dawn serves as lead trial counsel for several national clients and has represented both plaintiffs and defendants. She concentrates her practice in labor and employment defense, premise and product liability and toxic torts, real estate transactions, corporate and internal investigations, and contracts and complex commercial transactions. She also routinely represents franchisors in contract negotiations and interpretation of franchise agreements, litigation, and has been successful in obtaining injunctions and enforcement of non-competes against former franchisees.

Additionally, Dawn manages the discovery and e-discovery teams for many of the Firm’s clients. She has managed discovery and e-discovery teams in mass commercial litigation and labor & employment cases and has worked in tandem with electronic discovery managers, contract review attorneys and legal technologists to help clients meet their information governance, discovery and e-discovery objectives. Additionally, she advises key clients on budgeting, project management and works with e-discovery vendors on workflow development and training for attorneys to utilize document management technology platforms.

Early in the litigation, Dawn works with the clients to ensure the appropriate litigation holds are in place and identifies the appropriate search terms for the matter. She then creates a case specific, phased Document Review Protocol Manual, utilizing the ESI protocols and any case protective orders. She also works with client-approved vendors to customize a review panel for first level and second level review. She conducts the initial training and conducts daily targeted high level supervision of the contract review team and/or the KPW review team throughout the project to ensure adequate, timely and efficient workflow.

Dawn has served in varying capacities for the State Bar of Texas and the National Bar Association, including past chair of the NBA Commercial Law Section and former Board of Governor’s Member and Deputy General Counsel for the National Bar Association. Dawn is also a member of the American Bar Association and is a former chair of the State Bar of Texas Standing Committee on Racial Diversity in the legal profession. She is an active member of both the State Bar of Texas and the State Bar of Louisiana.
