Kuchler Polk is pleased to announce that Michele Hale DeShazo, Amber Barlow, and Skylar Rudin have been selected to serve on the Board of Directors in 2017 for the Women’s Energy Network’s (WEN) South Louisiana Chapter. Michele served as Sponsorship Director in 2016, and will move to the position of Vice President in 2017, while Amber and Skylar will once again serve as the New Orleans Programming Directors and Silent Auction Co-Chairs.
Recently, in Wright v. ANR Pipeline Company, 2016 WL 3268733 (5th Cir. 6/14/2016) the Fifth Circuit affirmed the trial court’s dismissal of an ANR employee, whom the defendants (all of whom were represented by Kuchler Polk) claimed was improperly joined to defeat federal diversity jurisdiction. This decision was significant because the trial court had dismissed the claims of numerous plaintiffs on the merits after they could not meet their burden to show their claimed injuries were caused by the emergency shutdown at the ANR natural gas compressor station. Rather than appealing the dismissal on the merits, the plaintiffs chose to challenge the trial court’s jurisdiction and lost.
